AC/DC rocks Tacoma Dome
November 2008
|
|
|
|
| |
Fish's Review of show: This was the 7th time I have seen
AC/DC in concert and like every performance they deliver
the goods. While the band looks older on stage , the energy
and atmosphere remained the same, a rowdy, fist pumping
night of AC/DC sing-a-long anthems! They opened with a huge
steam engine train crashing on stage and their new hit "Rock-n-Roll
Train" which was a perfect show starter and a song
that fits in nicely with their all time classics. "Hell
aint a bad place to be" and old school Bon Scott classic
followed, then "Back in Black" - wow! three powerhouse
tunes to start the show. The Tacoma Dome was packed and
about 4.000 fans were wearing AC/DC plastic lighted Devil
Horns ( at $15.00 EACH!) made for a very colorful night
of devilish fun. The lines for T-shirts were jammed all
night as were the lines for beer - outside a few drunken
scuffles it was a night of older fans , mixed with some
rock-n-roll newcomers obiviousily influenced by Dad's record
or 8 Track collection! They played 18 classic's, two encores
( Highway to Hell, For Those About to Rock) 7 songs from
Bon Scott Era, 11 from Brian Johnson's albums….better
songs live included "Thunderstruck" "Let
their Be Rock" "Whole Lotta Rosie" "Shoot
to Thrill" while "You Shook me" has become
a tired snoozer. The stage show is incredible from the Train
to the Hells Bells, explosion fire from six huge Cannons
and a 50 foot tall blow up doll named "Rosie".
AC/DC delivers no surprises, yet your expectations are always
met. Easily one of the great Rock-n-Roll bands of all-time!
I wonder if this is their swan song and final tour? If so,
a very fitting conclusion to an era of classic Rock band.

The Fish's Led Zeppelin Adventure! London
O2 Arena 2007
Fish's
review of Led Zep!
It was hard for me to be critical of band I have anxiousily
waited 27 years to witness, but it was worth the wait! I
imagine it would be like getting out of prison to have a
steak dinner and a cold beer as I was serving my rock-n-roll
sentence without Zep.... but now I am free. I pondered the
quality of what I was about to witness in person at London's
O2 arena and had admitted in advance limited expectation.
I wondered about the ability of Robert Plant to hit the
high notes, Jimmy Page to rip the right chords on guitar,
working exiled Bassist/keyboardist John Paul Jones into
the mix and last but not least would Jason Bonham rise to
the level in memory of his Father ? That was a lot to ask...Do
you believe in miracles...YES!
Led Zep rocked the celebrity
laced crowd from the opening number "Good Times, Bad
Times" until the final note of "Rock and Roll"
Many felt the sound wavered in the first few numbers , but
my floor seat in front of the sound board was a perfect
place to enjoy the best sound and only a few moments of
feedback or unbalanced troubles really was noticable.
My favorites included
"Trampled Under Foot" "Song Remains the Same"
and "Ramble On"...I enjoyed every number but did
manage a beer break during "Dazed and Confused"
and ran into Joe Elliott of Def Leppard, James Young of
Styx, Film Star Tera Patrick - a great mix of people at
this show! "Stairway to Heaven" for whatever reason
lacked the audience response I thought it would get, perhaps
the song is outdated? A young girl in my area cried tears
of joy during the entire song, in fact many cried tears
of happiness during this emotional Led Zep reunion. (Including
me, three or four times) Jason Bonham added a sizzle to
all the songs, Jimmy Page looked like he was having the
time of his life being a Rock god again, Jonesy was smiles
on the bass, Robert Plant seemed to soak in the moment and
somewhere John Bonham had to be proud of his Son.... I could
write and talk about this show for hours but you'll see
it soo n enough - I predict a 65,000 crowd at Qwest field
sometime Summer 2008? Led Zep 9 out of 10...Nobody's Perfect!
It was the greatest road trip adventure of my life!
